The Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana has been implemented in the state in view of the difficulties faced by poor families in relation to the marriage of the girl child.
Objective: Redressal of financial difficulties in relation to girl’s marriage to poor families, preventing extravagance on the occasion of marriage and promoting simple marriages, increasing morale / self-esteem through organizing mass marriages and improving their social status. Promotion of mass marriages and prevention of dowry transactions in marriages.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Girl Marriage Scheme Benefits:
- Under the Chief Minister’s Food Scheme, a maximum of two girls above the age of 18 years of the cardholder family, who are living below the poverty line, are to be given benefits under the scheme.
- Under the scheme, there is a provision to spend a maximum amount of Rs 25,000/- for the marriage of each girl child.
- Out of this, Rs. 5,000/- on adornment material for bride and groom, Rs. 14,000/- on other gift items, Rs. 1,000/- to bride in the form of bank draft and Rs. 5,000/- per girl for mass marriage. expenditure can be made. Widow / orphan / destitute girls have also been included by the state government under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana.
