Upcoming Airports in Telangana
The Government of Telangana has proposed to take up development of three Greenfield airports at (1) Jakaranpally, Nizamabad District, (2) Palvancha, Bhadadri Kothagudem District, (3) Mahabubnagar District and three Brownfield airports at (1) Mamnoor, Warangal District, (2) Basanth Nagar, Peddapally District & (3) Adilabad in Adilabad District and appointed Airports Authority of India (AAI) for conducting Techno Economic Feasibility studies for these six (6) airports.

Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of airports that are currently operational in the State of Telangana;
(b) the details of airports that are used for scheduled airlines and those used only for chartered aircraft;
(c) whether the Government is considering any plans to open new airports in Telangana, especially in Warangal, Siddipet, Kothagudem or Kagaznagar and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether any proposals from the Government of Telangana to open new airports in the State are pending and if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PART (A) TO (D) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.44 FOR 22.07.2021 REGARDING AIRPORTS IN TELANGANA.
(a) At present, there are two operational airports in Telangana, namely, (i) Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, Hyderabad and (ii) Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad .
(b) Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad is operational for scheduled flights while the Begumpet airport is operational for non-scheduled flights.
(c) & (d) The Government of Telangana has proposed to take up development of three Greenfield airports at (1) Jakaranpally, Nizamabad District, (2) Palvancha, Bhadadri Kothagudem District, (3) Mahabubnagar District and three Brownfield airports at (i) Mamnoor, Warangal District, (ii) Basanth Nagar, Peddapally District & (iii) Adilabad in Adilabad District and appointed Airports Authority of India (AAI) for conducting Techno Economic Feasibility studies for these six (6) airports.
The Techno Economic Feasibility Study reports in respect of all the proposed airports have been submitted by AAI to the State Govt, of Telangana on 7th July, 2021. Proposal for site clearance for the proposed greenfield airports from the State Govt, of Telangana has not yet been received in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
